Hanes Comfort Women with More "Love". Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Tuesday, March 6, 2007

"Hanes(r), America's No.1 brand of apparel, today announced that it will feature Jennifer Love Hewitt in an advertising campaign to support the launch of the brand's All-Over Comfort Bra with ComfortSoft(r) Straps. The campaign, airing during American Idol this Thursday, March 1, will include new television, print and online ads. The new bra's innovative ComfortSoft(r) Straps are designed wider and are made of smooth nylon/spandex for a non-binding fit that eliminates cutting and digging into shoulders, providing a solution to continuously slipping bra straps.

Now available at retail stores, the Hanes All-Over Comfort Bra features wider ComfortSoft(r) Straps, butter-soft fabric, an optional hidden underwire to eliminate "dig in" and a Tagless design for added comfort.

Check out Hanes photoshoot for additional behind-the-scenes footage and commercial
outtakes, an interactive "Bra Toss" game and sweepstakes for consumers, as well as a blog where consumers can vent about their biggest bra challenges."

Heather Reier Brains Behind the Business of Cake

Ever wonder who started the ingenious line of delectable goodies called Cake Beauty?

Throughout childhood, Heather Reier was always drawn to the beauty world. In 2001, at the age of 26, her passion for indulgence and beauty had not wavered. That year, Canadian, Heather Reier realized that the beauty world needed a line of cremes, suds and scrubs with decadent, nourishing ingredients accompanied by sophisticated packaging and a sassy, fun concept. Cake Beauty was born.

Working initially in her kitchen, the young entrepreneur’ess spent countless nights and weekends developing, researching and sourcing ingredients from around the world, not resting until she found the ultimate recipe for Cake Beauty's collection. No detail was overlooked. She studied the properties of each ingredient, insisting on using only those that would benefit both physical and emotional needs while yielding the most superior textures. Mango and shea butters, coconut and jojoba oils, turbinado sugar, marshmallow, pure essential oils and whole milk were all used.

This ‘beauty junkie’s’ vision and ultimate goal was to create a collection of goodies that would trigger the emotional and physical feeling she knew the world starved for. If that wasn’t enough, Heather characterized each product with clever, distinct namesakes. When all details were covered, the collection was ready to be ‘served’.

Over five years later, Heather remains the driving force behind Cake Beauty. Her dedication and belief in Cake Beauty has resulted in worldwide distribution in lifestyle, boutique and department stores. The range can be found in the US, Canada, the UK, Sweden, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Philippines, Russia and Australia and contains over 20 signature products. Cake Beauty has become a true cult-beauty brand and favorite with celebrities the world over.

And they say that the 80's are dead...

Most fashion experts would like you to think that the 80's look is as dead as boho-chic, but I beg to differ. From belted tunics to angular dresses, the Elizabeth Taylor/Dynasty look is alive and well, and celebs are happy to keep it going as well.

Some celebs are bringing the 80's to the red carpet in prom dress-like styles (like Chloe Sevigny and Paris Hilton) while others are taking a more glitzy approach like Diane Kruger and Hilary Swank.

However, our favorite approach to 80's re-revival style has to be Cameron Diaz's Valentino Oscars gown. Cameron is unequivocally talented when it comes to rocking new 80's chic and this gown proves it. With just the right taste of the 80's in the off-the-shoulder neckline, but kept contemporary by not being in a crazy neon color, Diaz strikes just right balance.

Kylie Minogue Styles Beachwear For Hennes & Mauritz

Sunday, March 4, 2007

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue and Swedish clothing retailer Hennes & Mauritz have cooperated in making a beachwear line that the singer would also model, the Swedish group said Friday.

The "H&M loves Kylie" line of 15 styles is to go on sale in mid- May and aimed at presenting a "relaxed, sporty, beach-life feel mixed with the glam look."

"When we think Australia and glamour we think Kylie, who is such a stylish person," Hennes & Mauritz head of design Margareta van den Bosch said in a statement.

Ten per cent of the money spent on the beachwear line would be donated to the charity WaterAid that aims to provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.

The Swedish clothing retailer has in recent years cooperated with the US pop star Madonna on a fashion line. Hennes & Mauritz operates around 1,300 stores in 24 countries.

Coming Soon to Sundance Channel: Raving Starring Zooey Deschanel

Friday, March 2, 2007

Inspired by a feature in ELLE's October Personal Style issue, Raving stars Zooey Deschanel (Failure to Launch, All The Real Girls, Elf) and Bill Irwin (Lady in the Water, The Manchurian Candidate). Stiles' film explores the emotional connection between a bright, rebellious young woman and a lonely, disassociated older man after a chance encounter on a New York street corner. "I wanted to focus on characters not involved in the fashion world, to illustrate how the seemingly simple act of getting dressed shapes one's identity” said Stiles. "I had been imagining this story for awhile, but never in a million years thought I'd be directing. I am incredibly honored to have been given my first opportunity by ELLE."

Raving will premiere on the Sundance Channel on Tuesday, May 8 at 8:30 PM.

Life & Style’s Best Dressed at the Oscars

Thursday, March 1, 2007

Most Glamourous: Penelope Cruz

Best Actress nominee Penélope Cruz was a style winner in a showstopping Atelier Versace number. “You can only wear this kind of dress to the Oscars!” said the Volver star, who dazzled in 60 carats of Chopard diamonds.

Best Figure Flatterer: Cameron Diaz

“It’s great to be able to come out and support the people you’ve worked with,” said presenter Cameron Diaz, who flaunted her figure in second-skin Valentino and accessorized with Brian Atwood slingbacks and almost $2 million worth of Cartier jewels!

Slinkiest Fit: Cate Blanchett

“It’s like the love of your life — they choose you, these frocks,” said Best Supporting Actress nominee Cate Blanchett, who plucked this Armani Privé number from the runway in Paris. The dress, made of Swarovski-crystal mesh, weighs a whopping 40 pounds!

Hottest Hue: Nicole Kidman

“It takes a few hours to get ready,” said Nicole Kidman, who wowed in a silk-crepe Balenciaga gown made just for her. She completed the look with a pair of diamond cuff bracelets (with 375 carats!) designed by her stylist, L’Wren Scott.

Flirtiest Look: Beyonce

“I guess it’s mint green,” said Beyoncé about her pretty bejeweled one-strap Armani Privé gown. While the soft shade flattered the singer’s brown eyes, the daring slit highlighted her long legs — and offered a glimpse of her sparkly ankle-strap shoes.

Sexiest Transformation: Reese Witherspoon

Ryan who? Reese Witherspoon turned heads in a pleated silk-jacquard amethyst bustier dress by Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci. The finishing touch? A gorgeous 83-carat Van Cleef & Arpels diamond bracelet from 1937.
